How SeniorCare is helping outside the USA:
ISRAEL
Senior Care Fund made a grant toward operating expenses of Ebenezer Home in Haifa, an independent Christian-operated residence for the indigent elderly. Last year there were 29 residents with an average age of 83.9 years. Most were Holocaust survivors from Germany, Poland, and Russia, though there were a few Arabs and other non-Jewish individuals. They all live together in a harmonious community.
LIBERIA
SCF supported a program of World-Wide Missions Liberia providing for the basic needs of retired pastors and church leaders who suffered injuries during the 20-year civil war. Most live with their extended families in the cities of Monrovia, Buchanan, and Paynesville, with a few in outlying areas. Food, clothing, and medical treatments are provided through WWM churches and clinics.
MEXICO
SCF shipped a 40-ft sea container filled with clothing and supplies to Centro Cristiano Poder de Dios in Mexico City to benefit indigent families with small children and dependent elders. Included were 16,250 lbs of baled clothing and 1,900 lbs of assorted medicines. The shipment had a total fair market value of $241,500.
HAITI
SCF shipped a sea container filled with clothing items to Light and Peace Mission in Port-au-Prince to benefit families, including seniors, impacted by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake of January 12, 2010. The shipment had a total fair market value of $196,171.
UKRAINE
SCF made a grant to Bridges for Peace for Project Tikva, feeding 50 elderly destitute people in Kiev. Under a special partnership with the Russian Orthodox Church, they are provided hot lunches three days a week.
